We are currently seeking an Instructor, Technical Communication to join our team.

Reporting to the Chair of Creative Arts, the successful candidate is responsible for full-time instruction in a variety of courses within the Technical Communication Program and the Creative Arts Department.

Duties:

Preparing and presenting instruction in a classroom and laboratory environment; developing and updating course curriculum as required; interviewing program applicants; supervising student independent projects; counseling students and evaluating student progress; helping to identify and pursue student co-op placements; keeping student records and assessing equivalencies; assisting in College activities including student registration and events; coordinating contacts with employers and other outside agencies; promoting the Program to prospective students and employers; and working with colleagues on cross-disciplinary projects.

Qualification Requirements:

  • post-secondary educational background with a relevant degree in communication/English
  • minimum of five years current experience in the field of technical or business communication
  • a broad knowledge of technical communication, especially new media and social media
  • a portfolio of technical or business communication work
  • relationships with related professional organizations and industry
  • experience in teaching and mentoring
  • demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development
  • experience with current technology and an interest in applying new technologies
  • an understanding of the creative process and the ability to devise strategies to nurture student creativity and professionalism, both in the classroom and in one-on-one sessions
  • sensitivity to, and understanding of the learning needs of adult learners from a wide range of educational, cultural, socio-economic and age groups
  • excellent communication (written and oral), presentation and interpersonal skills
  • ability to work independently and in a team environment

Salary: $49,874 to $74,083 per annum*

*The successful candidate with a Masters or PhD in a related field will receive an Educational Supplement of $2,550 or $5,100 per annum respectively.
